General terms and conditions

  • The competition is open to all young guitarists, who are ready to meet the following four conditions:
    • their age matches the frame given below,
    • their performing program corresponds to the guideline which is particularized
    • in a separate document named "Mandatory pieces" ;
    • their application arrives within the announced registration period
    • they accept these "General Competition Regulations"
  • The competition will be categorized in three age groups.
    • Age group I: up to 13 years old
    • Age group II: 14 to 16 years old
    • Age group III: 17 to 19 years old
  • The registration period runs from January 1 to February 28, 2026.
  • The number of participants in each age group is limited. Admission to the competition is based on the order in which registrations are received.
  • Participation in the competition is at the participant's own risk and without liability claims against the organizer.
  • The costs for travel, accommodation and meals are borne by the participants.
  • The order of the performances will be drawn by lot under municipal supervision, the times will not be announced before check-in on June 3, 2026.
  • The competitions are open to the public. The organization management exercises the domiciliary right.
  • The decisions of the jury committees are incontestable. Legal recourse is excluded.
  • The program submitted with the registration is binding and must be performed by heart.
  • TThe specified time limit refers to mere playing time of the entire program. This means that the clock runs from the first note played in the program until the last note of the program has faded away and the tension of the performance has been released by the respective performing artist.
  • Participation in the final round of age group III is decided by the relevant jury. The program for the final round may not contain any works that have already been performed in the first round.
  • If students of jury members take part in the competition, these members will not be admitted to judge their students' age group.
  • The jury is obliged to maintain confidentiality until the official announcement of the results.
  • Up to five prizes will be awarded in each age group. The jury reserves the right   to split prizes or not to award individual prizes. When a prize in one category is shared the jury does not award the prize in the category below that, but adds it to the shares of the winners in equal parts.
  • The prizes awarded to participants will be published as well as their classification into one of the following four performance levels:
    "Excellent" (20 to 25 points)
    "Very good" (17 to 19 points)
    "Good" (14 to 16 points)
    "Successful participation" (less than 14 points).
  • The individual scores are not published.
  • Alternatively, the following is certified on the certificates:
    the prize awarded
    participation in the final round (age group III only)
    the performance level achieved.
  •  In the event of any discrepancies, only the German version of these General Competition Conditions shall be binding.
